Kanawha HealthCare Solutions, Inc. (KHS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Kanawha Insurance Company, is the administrative and managed care division that focuses on assisting self–funded employers by creating flexible employee-focused benefit plans and managing and processing claim activity.
KHS was created to provide high quality, seamless
benefit plan administration for the growing number of
companies choosing to self-fund. Our background includes
the development and management of PPO, POS and HMO style
delivery systems on an insured and self-funded basis
focusing on controlling utilization and cost while improving
outcomes.

KHS has an on-site AAHC/URAC accredited (since
1993) Medical Management group comprised of 11
full-time professional nurses with extensive clinical
experience. KHS is one of only 13 of the 169 regulated
URO/Insurance Companies in the Carolinas to be
URAC accredited.
In addition to case and disease management, KHS’
Utilization Management program provides preadmission,
outpatient, and continued stay review, discharge
planning, psychiatric review, and maternity management,
and is integrated into our claims and customer
service departments to maximize communication
and patient care, and control unnecessary utilization.

our mouth is" when it comes to guaranteeing
our employer groups the highest level of service!
KHS is placing up to 5% of our administration
fees at risk if we do not hit key performance
marks in financial and payment accuracy and customer
service.
